The High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development was established in follow-up to the outcome of the 2012 UN Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) to replace the Commission on Sustainable Development. The Forum is a subsidiary of the Economic and Social Council and General Assembly.

- Meets every year at the ministerial level under the Economic and Social Council; document symbols include:

"Further decides that all meetings of the forum shall provide for the full and effective participation of all States Members of the United Nations and States members of specialized agencies;"
