How to Search the Library Catalogue

How can I access the Library's online subscriptions from outside UN Headquarters?

The Dag Hammarskjöld Library subscribes to numerous electronic resources to support the work of the Organization.

People connected to the UNHQ network in New York have access to the Library's subscription resources.

New York-based UN Secretariat staff and UN Staff from selected entities in the field can log in with their email credentials to access these information resources from anywhere.

It is important to start research from the Library pages, as this enables the authentication using your UN credentials. If you go to a journal or database website directly, it will not know that you have access through the UN's subscription.

To access:

  • a database, choose it from the A-Z list of electronic resources
  • a journal, start in the Library catalogue's e-journal search
    • Search for the journal title
    • Select the title of interest from the results list
    • Select a link to access the journal
  • a book or article, start in the Library catalogue
    • Search for the title or author
    • Select the item of interest from the results list
    • Select a link to access the book or article
  • a topic, start in the Library catalogue
    • Search for keywords
    • Select the item of interest from the results list
    • Select a link to access the book or article

You may be prompted to enter your email credentials for full access. If you are logged in to your UN webmail account, you may be able to access the resources without having to log in again.

For staff not in New York or the selected field entities listed at the link above, please contact your library or check iSeek to learn more about resources available to you.
