Alerts can be set up to notify users when documents are issued on a particular subject. To set up alerts, some resources require authentication before alert creation, while others need a private account creation prior to authentication.
Upon receiving an email with alerts, in most cases:
To receive newsletters or to create alerts for the electronic resources that require a special ID from the Library (Africa Report, Jeune Afrique, etc.), you need to create a personal account.
Africa Confidential does not include in our license a feature for user to set up their own account and customize alerts. To create an alert, UN Staff can, instead, sign up for a free account and set up Free Alerts, and then login separately from our A-to-Z page to access the full text of the articles received by email.
Once you have this free personal account, you can login and modify it further. Just remember that the free personal account is not linked to our UN institutional account, so you will need to login separately from our A-to-Z page to access the full text of the articles periodically.
To create an alert, the Africa Intelligence alert feature requires a free personal account that is not connected to the UN account in order to receive and customize alerts. UN Staff can sign up for a free account and set up alerts, and once you receive the alerts, login separately from our A-to-Z page to access the full text of the articles received by email.
Once created, the Kiosk under My Account will allow you to set up alerts by subjects or save searches.
To create an alert, click on My Notifications, and then Create a Notification. You must add a keyword in the search, and it is optional to choose one or several countries or geographic areas.
To subscribe to the Newsletter, log in to your account. From your Kiosk, click on My email services and choose which newsletter to receive and in which language.

UN Staff can sign up for the free newsletter and then login separately from their main page to access the full text of the articles received by email.
To sign up to receive newsletters and podcasts, you need to access Arab Digest using the A-to-Z page. Sign up for the newsletter by filling in the form, where you can specify countries and areas of special interest.
To subscribe to the Newsletter, select Newsletters from the home page.
Choose between a daily or weekly subscription to the Balkan Insight Newsletter. They also offer newsletters of other resources that may be of interest.
To subscribe to their Subscriber-only newsletters you will need to have a @un.org email address. Click in Log in in the top right corner of the screen.
Then, add your @un.org email address with no password. The system will automatically recognize the email address and will take you to the website to log in with your UN credentials.
Once you are logged in, click on My Economist and then My Account.
In the following screen, scroll down a little bit until you see the Newsletter section. Choose the Newsletters you would like to receive. You will need to Log In to access the content received by email.
To create alerts: Once you access this resource from the A-to-Z page, first create an account by clicking on Register on the top right side of the screen.
Then, click on My Alerts on the top of the screen and select the geographies and content type you are interested to.
Once you receive the alerts, login separately from our A-to-Z page to access the full text of the articles received by email.
To subscribe to their Newsletter, select Newsletters from the home page.
Add your email address and choose the Newsletter you would like to receive. Note: “The Backstory” newsletter is not included in our subscription.
To subscribe to a Newsletter, you need to create an account first to manage the subscription. Once you have created an account, you have the option to subscribe to their different regional newsletters. Click on Newsletter on the top menu of the screen.
As with other subscriptions, you may need to login separately from our A-to-Z page to access other content received by email.
To receive alerts, you need to create an account.
There are two kind of alerts:
Alerts for your own searches:
Once you have logged in your account, do a search in the platform using your search term, save it under MyHein Options > MyHein Search Queries and then click Save.
You can choose the folder where you want to save the alert.
Electronic Table of Contents (eTOC) Alerts:
By setting up this alert, you will receive an e-mail with the table of contents of new issues of your selected journals.
First, log in to your account. Click on All Databases in the top left corner, and choose Law Journal Library.
Using the A-Z index, search for the title you are interested in, open the title and then choose Create eTOC Alert.
To create an Alert, you need to do a search and then click in Create Alert under the Search button. Then, click on Sign in and it will ask for your email address and the rest of the details of your alert.
When you click on the articles in the alert you received, it will take you to the log in page to access the information.
If you want to modify your Alerts, you need to access the resource from the A-to-Z page, then click Sign In. It will automatically recognize your account. In your Folder, you will find your alerts to be modify.
To receive a Table of Contents Alert when a new issue of a publication is released, click on Publications on the top of the screen.
Choose the publication you want, and click Share. A new window will pop up where you can add your email to receive the alerts.

To subscribe to Pre-created alerts and RSS feeds, select Alerts & Feeds from your account icon in the top right corner of the screen.
Once you are in the Alerts & Feeds section, select the alerts you want to receive.
To create Customized Alerts, first do a search, and then save it by clicking on the folder icon.
A screen will pop-up to choose if you want to receive alerts of this search and the frequency of the email.

To receive Newsletters from Le Monde, you need to create a free personal account that is not connected to the UN institutional account. UN Staff can sign up for a free account and choose the free access newsletters. Once you create your account, access you account in the top right corner of the screen and choose Newsletter.
Then, add the free access newsletter you would like to receive:
Once you receive the newsletter, login separately with the ID provided by the Library and access the full text of the articles received by email.
To subscribe to the free newsletter, use the links provided here: for English and for French.
Once you receive the newsletter, login separately using the A-to-Z list to access the full text of the articles received by email.
To receive the table of contents of the latest issues, you can set up Table of Contents Alerts.
First, create an account by clicking on Log In on the right side of the screen. Once you choose the magazine you are interested in, you can set up the alerts to receive the table of contents of the magazines selected:
As with other subscriptions, you may need to login separately from our A-to-Z page to access other content received by email.
To claim a Digital Pass, use a UN.ORG email address.
To activate your Digital Pass (access onsite and offsite), follow the instructions provided in the page.

Newsletters are in the Account dropdown menu, under the Your Content section. Select the newsletters you would like to receive in your email.
To receive Alerts from your saved topics, add your email under My account
Go to Advanced Search and perform your search and save your search as a Topic.
Activate the Notifications Alerts under your Account
To create Alerts of a saved searches, run a search and when prompted, follow the instructions to save the search as an alert.
To create Alerts and receive the Newsletter ScienceAdviser you will need to create an account first. Note that full access to the content received in the newsletter is limited to Science Magazine and open access sources.
Click on Get our E-Alerts on the right side of the screen and then Register as a new user if you don't already have a AAAS ID.
After adding your email address, a new screen will pop up where you select the Newsletter ScienceAdviser and the TOC alerts from Science and/or Science Advances that is an open access publication.
To create Alerts of your saved searches, first do a search, and then click on save search and select the frequency of the alert. To have access to full text articles choose in Searching: Science or Science Advances (open access publication).
To receive the daily Newsletter, Daily Review, click on the Sign Up Now box.
Once you receive the alerts, login separately from our A-to-Z page to access the full text of the articles received by email.
