Ocean Conference and SDG 14: Quick Guide

The Ocean Conference 2020

The 2020 United Nations Ocean Conference was scheduled to take place in Lisbon from 2 to 6 June under the overarching theme "Scaling up ocean action based on science and innovation for the implementation of Goal 14: stocktaking, partnerships and solutions". 

In light of the global coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic the Conference,has been postponed per decision 74/548 adopted by the General Assembly on 13 April 2020. Co-hosts of the Conference Kenya and Portugal in consultation with the General Assembly, will decide on possible future dates for the Conference, including timelines for the preparatory process.

 

The Ocean Conference 2017

The High-level United Nations Conference to Support the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development was convened at United Nations Headquarters in New York from 5 to 9 June 2017.
