Africa Research Online  provides excerpts of articles appearing in Africa Research Bulletins, background pieces to topical African issues, and analysis of the key stories coming out of the continent.

Africa Research Centre  was established in 2009 to conduct specialized research into issues arising out of conflict and post-conflict situations in Africa. The Centre acts as a consultancy to governments, political parties, companies and think-tanks. The center links to main research organizations on Africa.


The African Economic Outlook (AEO) presents the current state of economic and social development in Africa and projects the outlook for the coming two years while providing a comprehensive and comparable data and analysis of 54 African economies. 



Founded in 2007, Africa Research Institute (ARI) aims to inform domestic and international policymaking on African issues through the promotion of best practices and progressive ideas for government, the economy and civil society.

The GIGA Institute of African Affairs (IAA) has been researching political and economic developments on the continent since 1963, primarily focusing on the areas south of the Sahara.

The Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA),was established in 1973 as an independent pan-African research organization primarily focusing on social sciences research in Africa.




Established on 1 April 1968 ,the Centre for Conflict Resolution objective is to contribute towards a just and sustainable peace in Africa by promoting constructive, creative and co-operative approaches to the resolution of conflict through training, policy development, research and capacity building.


​AfricanLII is a programme of the Democratic Governance and Rights Unit at the Department of Public Law, University of Cape Town.  It provides free access to law portals and reach the people of Africa and beyond.  

Regional Organizations

 African Union is the regional organization of African countries with a vision that aims for a Peaceful, Prosperous and Integrated Africa.

The New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) is a comprehensive framework and partnership for the political and socio-economic transformation of African countries and the African continent.  

The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) is a multilateral development finance institution established to contribute to the economic development and social progress of African countries.

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), established on May 28 1975 has a mandate of promoting economic integration between the 15 West African member states.

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is a Regional Economic Community comprising 15 member tates.
